Looks like good idea. Found the Trinity Scanner frequency listings on the Resource page and the 10 Codes to be very helpful.
Hopefully, we won't have a disaster, but it will be an excellent tool if something does happen

3hours of nearly continuous lightning stikes up canyon creek. Early am 6/28/2006. Most impressive I have experienced. Don't have a scanner. Where to get current fire activity.??? Big fire reporting does no good when small fires start very close. Are any of these lightning caused fires still burning? F
RE: 6/28/06 LIGHTNING FIRES- Canyon Creek Area- The only way to keep track of fire fighting/reporting activity related to lightning strikes would be to monitor the VHF radio traffic.
A scanner with outside antenna is best. Links on TC Public Safety Resource Page to scanner frequency lists will provide info to program in your scanner.
A modern scanner that will run off 110VAC or 12VDC with both cables is about $130 or less. Antenna, cable and mast less than $100.

You also might hear lookout reports, and during day pilot/observer reports or other CDF, USFS traffic. Monitoring TC Fire Dispatch will disclose agencies dispatched,etc.
